Since the early 60's, based on the KDE-151 crane, the machine-building plant named after 1 May in the city of Kirov launched building of KDE-161 cranes with load capacity 16 tons.
Unlike the base model, the cranes KDE-161 and further modifications are builded with diesel generator station consisting of a diesel engine 6CHN12/14 output of 115 hp and AC generator ESS-4M101 with self-excited.
However, the 1D-6 motor is installed at the firsts crane squads.
